Samir Gulamov

Samir Gulamov was born on October 21, 1977 in Baku, Azerbaijan. He studied at the "Drama and Film Acting" faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (under the guidance of People's Artists Azarpasha Nematov and Aliabbas Gadirov, 1995-2000). In addition, he graduated from Rustam İbrahimbayov's International Film School's "Screenwriting and Directing" faculty (2007-2009), the American-Azerbaijan Film Directing Course (2009), and studied at the "International Economic Relations" faculty of the Azerbaijan State Economic University (2009-2011).

So far, he has directed 12 plays and acted in 17 plays. He has been the director of a total of 34 state events. He is a member of the Azerbaijan Cinematographers Union. He is the screenwriter and founder director of three serials, several feature and short films. In 2006, he founded the "Artist" film company. Since 2019, he has been working as a founding director at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater.

He has worked as an actor at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre (2000-2006), a director at "Space" television (2002-2004), a director at "Ictimai" television (2005-2006), a founding director at Shusha State Musical Drama Theatre (2006-2007), a founding director at Zaman Theatre (2006-2008), a founding director at Sumgait State Drama Theatre (2007-2008), a director at Azerbaijan State Television (2007-2009), and an actor and director at the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theatre (2006-2012).

Samir Gulamov has been awarded the "Best Executive Director of the Year" and "Most Beloved Performance of the Year" awards at the award ceremonies held in the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in 2021-2022. He received these awards for his performance as the founder director of the play "Paris Notre-Dame" and the awards were named after People's Artist Huseynagha Sadigov. In 2022, he was also awarded the "Professional Performance" award at the "Fajr" International Theater Festival in Iran for his play "Like a Breath", which he wrote and directed. In 2013, he was awarded "Best Director of the Year" by the New Azerbaijan Party.

Samir Gulamov has received several awards and recognitions for his work as a director. In 2021-2022, he was awarded the "Best Executive Director of the Year" and "Most Popular Show of the Year" awards at the awards ceremonies held at the State Academic Musical Theater, for his work as the founder director of the play "Paris Notre-Dame Dedication". He also received the "Professional Show" award for his play "Breathless" at the "Fajr" International Theater Festival in Iran in 2022. In 2013, he was awarded the title of "Best Director of the Year" by the New Azerbaijan Party. In 2007, he was honored with a diploma for "Young Directors" at the theater festival organized by the Ministry of Culture and Theater Workers Union. In 2008, he was awarded a diploma by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, and the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs. He also received the "Active Public Figure of the Year" award from the Cultural Workers Confederation in 2005.

Currently, two plays are being rehearsed at the Academic Musical Theater, "Paganini" (written by S. Gulamov) and "Leyli and Majnun" (libretto by S. Gulamov), of which he is the founder and director. His play "Paris Notr-Dame Dedication" (V. Hugo, directed by S. Gulamov) is received with great enthusiasm at every performance. In addition to these plays, S. Gulamov is also the founder and director of the ballet play "Unknown Stairs" (M. Abdullayev), which is in the theater's repertoire.

So far, he staged the performances at the Academic National Drama Theater including: "White Boat" (E. Abdullayev), "Sanctuary", "Gate of Guidance", "Headless Army", "Trust", "Victim of Love", "Love", "White Flags" (N. Dumbadze). The stage plays in which he played roles are Qadir in the play "The Resurrected Man" (Mir Jalal Pashayev), one of the main roles in "Disaster" (H. Javid), Safi Bey in "Love and Revenge" (S. Sakhundov), Rizvan in "Competition" (B. Vahabzade), Bernardo and Fortenbran in "Hamlet" (William Shakespeare).
