Kamal Abdulla's play "Asgar and Gulchohra" is being prepared at the Academic Musical Theater

Rehearsals for the play "Asgar and Gulchohra" have begun at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater, the libretto of which belongs to the prominent scientist-academician, People's Writer Kamal Abdulla and the music to the prominent composer, Honored Artist Javanshir Guliyev.

At the first rehearsal, which was also attended by the author and composer, the director of the art center, Honored Artist, Doctor of Philosophy Aligismat Lalayev congratulated the guests and the creative staff of the theater and shared his thoughts with them:

“It is not by chance that the respected scientist and public figure Kamal Abdulla wrote the work “Asgar and Gulchohra”. He created it based on the more than a century-old operetta “Arshin mal alan” by the brilliant composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, inspired by the film of the same name filmed by his uncle - the outstanding film and theater director Reza Tahmasib. Unlike the love story with a happy ending, the theme targeted and emphasized in Kamal Abdulla’s work covers the events that took place during the turbulent period when the Bolsheviks invaded our country and plundered our material and spiritual wealth... It is truly a great responsibility to convey the dark pages of history to the modern audience in their entirety... The music of our respected composer Javanshir Muallim is not alien to this theater, and I am sure whose mysterious compositions will contribute to the creation of another successful stage work”.

In their speeches, the project participants also proposed presenting the performance on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, as well as the 75th anniversary of Kamal Abdulla and Javanshir Guliyev.

Discussing the performance and exchanging views with the creative team, the author and composer thanked the theater management for the attention shown.

It should be noted that the production director of the performance is Honored Artist Asgar Asgarov, the director is Elmaddin Dadashov, the production conductor is Honored Artist Fakhraddin Atayev, the production artist is Vusal Rahim, the production ballet master is Nigar Shahmuradova, the choir master is Honored Artist Vagif Mastanov, the concertmaster is Fidan Aliyeva, and the assistant director is Tamilla Aslanova.

According to the distribution of roles, the stage production will feature People's Artist Parviz Mammadrzayev, Honored Artists Azizaga Azizov, Shovgi Huseynov, Akbar Alizadeh, Igrar Salamov, Saida Sharifaliyeva, Almaz Alasgarova, President's Prize winners Samadzadeh Khasiyev, Mehriban Zaliyeva, actors Moyla Mirzaliyev, Nijat Ali, Turkel Tariqpeyma, Gulnara Abdullayeva, Faig Mirzayev, Gultaj Alili, Narmin Aliyeva, Alimammad Novruzov, Elnara Nagdaliyeva, Ibrahim Alizadeh, Elchin Imanov, Elkhan Ismayilov, Rauf Babayev, Subhan Rustamov, Ali Karimov. As in most of the theater's performances, choir and ballet artists will take to the stage in this performance.
