Results of the competiton led by Shafiga Mamadova at Academic Musical Theatre

The first qualifying round of the competition for the identification and employment of talented youth held at the Azerbaijan State Academic Music Theater on July 11-12. Around 60 contestants tried to demonstrate their vocal abilities and artistic skills to prominent theater and cinema representative, People's Artist, State Award Laureate Shafiga Mammadova. At the end of the selection process of new talents to the choir, ballet, orchestra, and actress, Shafiga Mammadova announced the results and highlighted the importance of such contests in revealing new abilities, but also expressed some concerns. "Unfortunately, the contestants are still unable to appreciate the significance of this wonderful initiative of the Academic Musical Theater and the conditions it has created for young people. Young people with fluent speaking skills should apply, but most young people do not value this opportunity. Only two of the 60 participants in the 2-day round have met at least the requirements of this competition. Orkhan Mirzayev and Tural Masimov, for the chorus troupe - Said Sayidov, Huseyn Hasanov (bass players) and Bahadur Rzayev and Turana Novruzova (violin performers) have been selected. I think this year the competition is a good start for the next years. We are looking for young people who are more flexible, more interesting, more powerful to work, strong vocals, and more creative for working in such theatre that has got "academic" status will also celebrate its 110 birthday, and also full of rich, exciting creativity biography. The director of the theater, Honored Artist, Doctor of Philosophy Aligismat Lalayev also expressed his solidarity with the proposals and remarks of Shafiga Mammadova: "We have been conducting this competition for the fifth year. Most of the young people who submit the document are not only beneficial for us but also for other theaters. I hope we have not been mistaken in our choice this year. Such competitions will give a great impetus not only to the theater world but also to the future development of our culture and art.
